BIOTEXFUTURE Spring Forum 2025 (Webinar)

  •  27. März 2025
     14:00 - 16:30

The global textile industry is facing a radical change and is looking for new environmentally friendly bio-based or CO2-containing materials, feedstocks, dyes and finishes. This Webinar, organised in cooperation with adidas AG, ITA Institut für Textiltechnik and Institute and Sociology of Organisation (STO) of RWTH Aachen University, will present the latest research and future textile innovations while discussing opportunities and challenges with industry suppliers and textile researchers. This edition focuses on “stretch fibers,” particularly the environmentally harmful production of elastane using toxic solvents like DMAc. With recent EU restrictions on these substances, traditional elastane production has been nearly banned. The webinar will showcase the BIOTEXFUTURE project’s “CO2Tex,” which produces solvent-free stretch fibers, exploring technical, environmental, and recycling aspects. Participants can expect an engaging discussion in this “Science – Dialogue.”

Program highlights:

  • TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane): A new raw material for Stretch Fibers – Sustainable,
Versatile and High-Performance Solutions – (Mark Scheller, Segment Manager, TPU, Covestro Deutschland AG)
  • Project “CO2Tex“: New Elastic Yarns (Jan Thiel, Deputy Project Lead of „CO2Tex“, Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University (ITA)
  • Elastane in Textile Sorting: One Challenge of Recycling Stretch Fibers(Annika Ludes, Digital Solutions, STADLER Anlagenbau GmbH)
