The BMBF has published a new funding guideline to close evidence gaps in clinical trials with high relevance for the patients concerned and for medical care in Germany. The funding initiative is divided into three funding modules:
- Module 1: confirmatory and exploratory clinical studies
- Module 2: systematic reviews of clinical studies
- Module 3: Patient participation in the concept development phase
Funding is generally provided for science-initiated individual projects. In justified exceptional cases, clinical studies on digital health applications can be funded as collaborative projects in Module 1 if the participation of a company as a partner is absolutely necessary for the realization of the study. Collaborative projects can also be funded in Module 3. In general, only state and state-recognized universities and non-university research and scientific institutions as well as healthcare institutions and providers are eligible to apply. Only in Module 3 can civil society organizations and other institutions also submit applications. The application procedure has a two-stage structure. The deadline for submission is October 25, 2022 . Further information
