New building for Matricel GmbH in Herzogenrath

Even with a thick blanket of snow, the Managing Director of Matricel GmbH, Dr. Ingo Heschel, together with the Mayor of Herzogenrath, Christoph von den Driesch, did not miss the ground-breaking ceremony for the company's new building on February 1, 2019. The new building on Konrad-Zuse-Straße in the Dornkaul industrial estate in Herzogenrath will really get underway on February 4, 2019.

Founded in 2001 as a spin-off from the Helmholtz Institute at RWTH Aachen University, Matricel has been based at the Technologiepark Herzogenrath (TPH) in Herzogenrath Kohlscheid since its foundation. Matricel GmbH is active in the field of regenerative medicine. The key to the medical product manufacturer's success is its innovative collagen implants, which are developed in close cooperation with clinical research partners. Matricel's collagen products have product approvals in all continents of the world and are used in areas such as dentistry, orthopaedics and soon also for bridging critical nerve injuries. Matricel, a success story from start-up to a globally active and highly successful company.

While Matricel was still managing with the capacities of the TPH and other rented rooms in 2014, additional space for the special cleanrooms and laboratories now needs to be created in order to continue on its growth path.

The company's new site in the Dornkaul industrial estate is located just 700m as the crow flies from the current company headquarters and offers the company the opportunity to build a customized new building on an area of 4000m², which ensures GMP-compliant cleanroom production as well as setting new standards in environmental protection and building technology.
