In order to achieve climate-neutral and resource-saving healthcare, the DBU is launching the funding initiative "CirculAid - Circular economy in the healthcare sector". We are looking for lighthouse projects that serve as "proof of concept" demonstrate concrete solutions for the responsible and economical use of resources. The aim is to reduce the consumption of resources in the healthcare sector. The initiative focuses on chemical-pharmaceutical products, medical technology articles and devices as well as textiles and personal protective equipment.
The following can apply
primarily small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and research institutions:
- Manufacturer of chemical-pharmaceutical products and medical devices
- Service provider and consulting company in the healthcare sector
- Hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, retirement and nursing homes and doctors' surgeries
- Universities and training centers in the medical field

- Circular design of products and processes
- Waste and resource management
- Valuation concepts (socio-economic innovations)
- Platforms, networks and qualification measures

Companies and associations are generally reimbursed 50% of the project costs upon acceptance and universities up to 100%.
Submission deadline for project outlines (3-5 pages) is 15.05.2023.
