Already for the eleventh time the Council of German BioRegions honored outstanding projects in the areas of biotechnology and life sciences with the innovation award. Each of the awards is endowed with a 2.000 € price and went to selected projects of researchers from Aachen, Mannheim and Magdeburg at the German Biotech Days in Berlin.

This also included the project “GreenRelease for Plant Health” of the researchers Dr. Felix Jakob, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schwaneberg and Prof. Dr. Andrij Pich from Aachen. The three researchers from the RWTH Aachen University have invented microgel container which ensure that plant protection products even adhere after rain and will be released gradually.

The reduced deployment of chemicals on fields could relieve the soil and therefore solve an important issue of the agricultural economy the jury considered for their decision.

Further information on the laureates from Mannheim and Magdeburg and the innovation award itself can be found on the website of the innovation award of the BioRegions.
